We can signpost you to additional help and support across the region, including financial advice, career planning and funding opportunities to enhance or gain new skills.

Redundancy has become an all too familiar feature of the modern economic landscape. Unite has developed a redundancy support programme in response to increased demands for redundancy support in its unionised workplaces.

How We Can Help You

The Unite Wulf team have developed a wide range of courses to support you if you are facing redundancy, and ensure that you are work ready and at the front of the queue when employers are looking to fill vacancies.

Some of these courses are detailed here, and can be delivered remotely through virtual classroom to ensure you remain Covid safe when accessing this support.

Sessions can be delivered for groups in the workplace, or through open courses which we frequently run.

Support From Other Sources

ReAct Funding

A vocational training grant of up to £1500 to help redundant workers acquire the skills sought by recruiting employers.

A wage subsidy of up to £3,000 paid to an employer who recruits a redundant worker. This is known as Employer Recruitment Support;

Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions and child maintenance policy. Iit administers the State Pension and a range of working age, disability and ill health benefits to around 20 million claimants and customers.

Citizens Advice

Citizens Advice previously Citizens Advice Bureau also known as Cyngor ar Bopeth in Welsh is a network of independent charities throughout the United Kingdom that give free, confidential information and advice to assist people with Benefits, money, legal, consumer and other problems.

Careers Wales

We work closely with Careers Wales to maximise the support available to members when they are faced with redundancy.

Careers Wales delivers the Working Wales services for Welsh Government which includes the ReAct package of support.

Uniec Prestige Ltd.

Unite the Union is working with Uniec Prestige Ltd. to provide Independent Pensions & Financial Advice to our members. Uniec Prestige has developed an excellent reputation for providing services to employees faced with redundancy as well as those who are retiring or wish to access their retirement savings early.

Providing support to members with Employability skills such as CV Writing, Interview Skills and Job Searching as well as other learning opportunities available as part of your membership – Each year thousands of members take up our offers, including everything from very short bite sized tasters, through to full qualifications.
