Welcome to the Unite Wales Union Learning Fund (WULF) website.
WULF is funded by Welsh Government to help support union led adult learning
in unionised workplaces.

All workers employed in Welsh workplaces where Unite the Union is recognised have the opportunity to access the fund to take advantage of the support, advice, guidance and training offers provided through the Unite WULF project.
Unite WULF works in partnership with its union branches, sister unions and employers in order to develop and deliver training in workplaces across Wales.

Adult Learners
Week 2022

Adult Learners’ Week takes place between 19th – 25th September. 

Adult Learners’ Week now in its 31st year is the biggest adult learning campaign in Wales with over 10,000 adults in Wales taking part. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the value of adult learning, celebrate the achievements of inspirational people and projects and motivate people to discover just how learning can positively change their lives.

To Celebrate Adult Learners Week the Unite WULF project will be running a number of FREE online webinars as well as promoting a number of other learning and training opportunities.

WHAT WE DO

Unite Project Offer

Unite has an extensive range of training opportunities available for members across all sectors in Wales.  Much of what’s on offer is accessible online with tutor support, to replicate face to face training as much as possible, so learners feel motivated and supported. Hybrid and classroom-based training will be making a return in 2022.

We are encouraging members in Wales to take on some form of training and development during this challenging time.

We particularly encourage applications from:

  • Key workers wishing to complete a qualification to further their career
  • Workers looking at redeployment and in need of qualifications and training.
  • Workers under threat of redundancy who need help with digital and employability skills, and who want to upskill or retrain to improve their career and job opportunities

How We Can Help You

Training

Unite WULF can offer a huge range of training and vocational skills opportunities to members, employees and employers. We’ve had over twenty years to build our training portfolio and we’re pretty confident we have a course to cover almost everything, and if we can’t help, we probably know someone who can!

Redundancy Support

The Unite WULF team are here to help you gain new skills, build your confidence and help you get back into work as soon as possible. We can signpost you to additional help and support across the region, including financial advice, career planning and funding opportunities to enhance or gain new skills.

Mental Health & Wellbeing

We have a dedicated page on our website showing all of our support for your mental health and wellbeing. 

Team WULF

A team of two, running a pan-Wales project, and over 2,000 Unite workplaces, Richard and Sue are passionate about what they do, and have a combined skills set that enable them to organise and deliver an impressive range of training opportunities to members and employers alike.

Richard Jackson

Richard Jackson has worked for WULF for three years and has made a huge contribution to the success of the Project. Richard has had many years of direct experience of working in and for a union, having been a Rep and Activist in his previous workplace, and also has worked as a Regional Unite Officer in Wales. Something of a tech whizz, Richard has transformed our online presence to make our Unite offer more accessible to everyone.

Sue Da'Casto

Sue Da’Casto has been working for WULF for 14 years, having followed a diverse career path following early motherhood at the age of 20. Now a full-time working grandmother and part time bee keeper, Sue has helped hundreds of people achieve their goals and has a real understanding of the challenges and obstacles that can present themselves on the path to meaningful employment. Guiding principle - “You’re never too old to re-invent yourself.”
